The Risk/Logic divide is a theory I have been debating with myself for a while now.
I believe everyone has a basic risk logic trade off, the same scale which everyone operates. One end being cold hard logic and the other gun ho’ crazy mentalist risk.
But what is best - I would in my teenage years probably opted for the more fun one - and these years a bit of both - when I am fifty will I live for logic? In the end the thing I consistently notice about life is that it all seems to work best at the balance - the middle point - the objective best of both.
I believe its a fairly obvious one - but its a deep one - a principle - something that pretty much dictates a man’s actions - whether he goes gambling or buys a sensible saloon. Its there everyday - people go to casino’s, people fritter money, people buy the boring car, save the extra pound - people win, people die of chronic boredom.
But like all good basic law’s its in the understanding that it comes into its own. By objectively paying attention to my actions I would say on strait ground I am pretty close to 50/50. In past more volatile years I would have said 80/20 to the risk but in maturation I am levelling. I am using habits now to push this even further - I see that logic mixed with a little risk is a more desirable option for me. I want the nice house and shit but I would rather still risk a bit and aim for the 25 bedroom rather than the 5. Hence I am working to position my mentality at a 40/60 risk/logic divide.
By knowing your divide you can act around that, use it to balance yourself and choose how to act. When to gamble and when to stick! One of the keys to success is knowing yourself, having a plan - use this in your armoury and allow yourself to decide quickly, react appropriately and avoid heavy loss.
